READ Hebrews 13:4-9 “In Relation To Ourselves”

QUESTIONS:

The author of Hebrews now turns his exhortation to how we should treat other members of the faith that we frequently have interaction with.

  1. Marriage is a very good thing.  When was marriage introduced into the world?  What does this let you know about how God views marriage?

  2. What is marriage supposed to illustrate to the world?  Read Ephesians 5:22-33.

  3. If God holds marriage in such high regard, what makes sex before marriage and sex outside of marriage a sin? In other words, explain v. 4 in your own words.

  4. At first, v. 5 may seem to make no sense.  The author of Hebrews says to “keep your life free from the love of money and be content with what you have.”  Then he quotes Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8 and says “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”  How can knowing that God is with you free you from the love of money?

  5. Think back to the first few chapters of Hebrews.  What makes Christ more valuable than money?

  6. Read v. 7. Who is a spiritual leader in your life?  What do you see as the outcome of their life…or in other words…what do you see in them that is worth reproducing in your own life?

  7. Read v. 8.  Why does this verse give you confidence in your race of faith?

  8. Read v. 9.  What are some ways you can be sure not to be led away by false teachings or false beliefs that you possess?
