READ Hebrews 3:7-19 – “Superior to Moses”
QUESTIONS:
The heart of the passage today is this…IF YOU WANT TRUE REST IN LIFE AND DEATH, YOU MUST BELIEVE AND TRUST IN CHRIST. In your own words, what does it mean to believe and trust in Christ? Have you trusted Christ with your life? How do you know?
In verses 7-11, the author of Hebrews uses Israel’s unbelief as an example of rebellion. God provided a redemptive plan to save Israel and bring them to the Promised Land, but they did not believe. The generation that did not believe ended up wandering in the desert for 40 years until they all died. The new generation believed and entered the Promised Land. Why do you think Israel hardened their hearts to God? Why do people today do the same? Is your heart hard to God now?
The author of Hebrews explains a great way for believers in Christ to remain soft and open to God. What do verses 12-13 say is a great way to keep your heart from hardening toward God? Have you ever experienced this working in your life? Explain a time you’ve experienced this.
In verses 15-19, the author explains the relationship between Faith and Obedience and a Hard Heart and Disobedience. Explain this relationship.
